» It isn't so much depressing as anger inducing. There is a volcano on an island just west of Rosaria and it is home to the Mothercrystal Drake's Breath.

» For generations Rosaria had been at war with the Iron Kingdom over ownership of Brake's Breath. The Iron Bloods are a cruel and brutal people who delight in bleeding Bearers −those who have the ability to use magic who are not Dominants− as they believe magic use to be profane. To them Dominants are abominations, but they were not above using one as a weapon of war.

» So, while the volcano itself was never a problem, the Iron Kingdom were occupying that island and always come to mind.

One must hire a scribe if their handwriting not be legible enough for the wider populace. Not that there are a great many who know how to read and write. But Clive is changing that.
